Viva Aerobus is launching the route Orlando – Merida on July 1. The service will run three times a week. A new route from Merida to Miami is also available starting July 2.
JetBluewill begin offering 15 daily flights between New York’s (JFK), and Tulum’s new airport (TQO), on June 13, 2013. The airline has also announced that it will launch new routes along the Mexican Pacific Coast, but has not provided any further details.
Volaris announced a new route between Cancun, Mexico and McAllen Texas. The flight will be operated twice per week beginning July 3.
Sunwing Airlines will begin weekly flights to Tulum in May 2024.
In 2024, the Spanish carrier Iberojet is also offering direct flight to Tulum from Spain and France .
As of today, Air Canadaoffers direct flights to Tulum between Toronto and Montreal.
Copa Airlines operates the route Panama to Tulum.
Merida’s connectivity has increased significantly over the past few months, despite the fact that Tulum’s Felipe Carillo Puerto airport is the fastest growing in the Yucatan Peninsula.
The number of American visitors is 36 percent. American Airlines, the leading airline for Americans in Cancun, operates routes from New York City, Houston, Atlanta and Charlotte.
Cancun plans to offer its services to additional countries in Europe and South America.
Quintana Roo has four airports that connect 42 US cities, 20 Canadian cities, and 18 Latin American cities with Yucatan hotspots.
A recent report by Inegi shows that more than 6.6 million people visited Mexico’s airports during the month of February.
New Domestic Flights
Both international visitors and residents will benefit from the increased air connectivity between Tulum Airport (TQO), and the Mexico Valley metropolitan area. Mexico City and 59 Mexican state municipalities, as well as one Hidalgo state municipality, are included.
Aeromexico is launching two daily flights to Tulum International Airport from AIFA starting May 2. The new route will make it easier to access the Mexican Caribbean during this new tourism era, said Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama.
From Cancun, you can fly to Cozumel or Merida; Cozumel or Chichen Itza; or Merida and Tabasco.
Merida has also seen exponential growth in recent years, since multiple flights were launched from the central region of the country in December 2023.
