Spain offers some of Europe’s most popular beach destinations all year round. The Southern Mediterranean Coast is a popular destination for tourists as we move into the fall season after the busy summer. Temperatures are still at record levels.
The Region of Murcia, with its capital Murcia as its centre of gravity, is located in southeast Spain. It is the seventh-largest city of the country. However it is not often considered a tourist destination. The autonomous region lies between the larger provinces Andalusia, and the Valencian Community.
The region is part of the Warm Coast and boasts over 160 miles of beautiful Mediterranean beaches. With more than 320 sunny days per year, this is one of Spain’s sunniest areas.
It is the perfect place for a beach trip in late fall. The average temperature for the year is 70degF. Fall temperatures are 86degF on average, and the lows at night are 66degF. The average high temperature is 70degF even in winter.
The top four destinations in the region are Los Alcazares and La Manga as well as the capital Murcia.
Los Alcazares, which was once a small fishing village, still retains some of that charm, despite being home to many international brands. Participate in the many fiestas and festival held all year long, such as Dia de la Hispanid on October 12, a lively national holiday in Spain.
La Manga has a number of luxury hotels that are either located on the Mediterranean or the lagoon with its crystal clear water.
Cartagena, the coastal city in Spain’s past, is one of Europe’s oldest cities. It has several ancient monuments that are still standing.
Murcia, the capital of Spain, is also rich in history and culture. Check out the delicious and fresh Mediterranean cuisine like the marinera or the zarangollo.
