Despite High Prices, Record Numbers of Travelers Flock to Hawaii

Posted on By No Comments on Despite High Prices, Record Numbers of Travelers Flock to Hawaii

Hawaii is still reporting record numbers of tourists, despite the economic crisis.

Hawaii’s recent tourist numbers are very close to those of pre-pandemic levels. In July, Hawaii welcomed over 1 million visitors. This solidified its place as the most popular beach destination in the United States.

In July, the number of tourists visiting these islands reached its highest level in January 2020 when the pandemic first broke out. Strict measures were then taken to prevent its spread.

The total amount spent by tourists in July 2019 was $1.94 billion, a 14.3% increase from the previous month.

The data shows that over 90% of tourists who were once turned away from Hawaii have returned, and the rising price does not seem to be a problem.

Hawaii’s average overnight rate for Americans from the mainland is $413.57. However, some islands like Oahu may be cheaper.

Hawaiian authorities have also raised the controversial tourist tax by 39.3 percent compared to 2019.

Hawaii’s popularity has not been negatively affected by recent price increases, which have put the state on a list of places where budget travelers are discouraged from returning.

The government reports that hotel occupancy has dropped to 81.5 percent. This is just 3.8 percentage points below pre-Covid 2019.

Comparing Hawaii’s occupancy rate of 81.5 percent, the overall United States occupancy rate actually dropped to 69.6 per cent in July. It had reached a high point of 70 percent in the month before.

Hawaii still had its best month ever since the beginning of 2020. The Pacific Ocean resort is more popular than ever.

According to research by booking site Hostelworld on the current trends of solo travel, 74% said that since the Covid era has ended, they prioritize “natural world experiences” when traveling.

The recent tourism boom in Central America, and other countries that have a lot of natural beauty is due to this factor.

Hawaii is the only state in America that is an archipelago made up of 137 volcanic isles in the Pacific Ocean. It stretches for nearly 1,500 miles, and has some of the most beautiful and natural eco parks in the United States, along with some of best beaches and outdoor sports in the world.
