Posted on By No Comments on Bali Seeks Assistance from International Embassies to Promote the New Tourist Tax

The governor of Bali has written a letter to Indonesian ambassadors asking for their help in informing potential tourists about Bali’s new tourism tax.

Bali’s authorities wants visitors to know exactly what they can expect from them when they visit the island.

To avoid misbehaving tourists, released a list of Dos and Don’ts that visitors should follow.

Tourism officials claim that visitors can pay an arrival fee within 23 seconds.

In busy times, there may be an extra line to pay the tourism tax in addition the the line for stamping passports by immigration officials.

Officials will manually verify who has paid by scanning QR codes.

It is easier and quicker for travelers to pay their tourism tax before they visit Bali online. This will only be necessary once, so that they can present their tourism tax voucher at the Bali airport.

The new tourism levy is payable by all foreign visitors in the province. This can be done online, at the Bali Airport or at the hotels and resorts.

Support for International Development

Jo Stevens is the Australian Consul-General in Denpasar in Bali. She is for the imposition of an international visitor tax on Bali. The foreign visitor tax will be implemented in Bali from February 14, 2024 and costs IDR 150 Thousand (about USD 9.54) per person.

Stevens said in Sanur and Denpasar last week that the levy is good for culture, waste management, respecting Balinese customs, religious aspects, and Balinese cultural values.

Matthew Downing is the British Deputy ambassador to Indonesia. He also supports the levy. He claimed that the levy was used to support regional projects.
