It’s easier than ever to get to the Riviera Maya. Tulum International Airport celebrated the arrival the first ever United Airlines Non-Stop Flight from Houston on March 31.
The inaugural flight was attended by 146 passengers, and a sister flight followed from Newark/New York.
That’s not all. United Airlines will begin non-stop service from Chicago starting on Sunday. The carrier will now connect Tulum with eight US cities.
United has joined American and Delta, which have also begun operations to Tulum as of March 28.
The Felipe Carrillo Puerto Airport, located 90 miles from Cancun and only 18 miles from Tulum will allow Americans to access the world-renowned Riviera Maya.
Patrick Quayle is the senior vice president for Network Planning and Alliances at United. He said that Tulum was on many travel lists because of its great beaches and restaurants. The region also has a rich natural history and beauty. “Our direct flights will help people reach this unique destination faster and more conveniently,” said Patrick Quayle, senior vice president of United’s Network Planning and Alliances.
According to United’s website Americans can now find flights between Tulum and Houston starting at $235.
Other International Airlines Arriving in Tulum by 2024
There are other alternatives to travel non-stop from the United States to Tulum or nearby towns.
Delta Air Lines
Delta offers a round-trip flight from Atlanta every day.
JetBlue
Starting June 13. JetBlue will begin operating a nonstop daily flight from New York City (JFK) on June 13.
American Airlines
The airline offers two daily flights between Dallas and Tulum, and one daily flight each from Charlotte and Miami.
American Airlines has operated over 40 flights per day from 18 US cities to Cancun, and now Tulum this season.
Spirit Airlines
Spirit Airlines will soon operate daily round-trip flights from Fort Lauderdale, and another flight from Orlando. The exact date has yet to be revealed.
Governor Mara Lezama said with these new flights over 6,160 passengers per week will be able to experience Mayan culture and its gastronomy as well as the natural Caribbean beauty.
